On June 27, 2012, Sokoloff Stern LLP, representing pro bono the family of a deceased volunteer firefighter, got the Appellate Division to overturn a decision by a state committee that denied placement of his name on the New York Firefighters’ Memorial Wall in Albany. The decision ends a high profile injustice that seemed immune to petitions, rallies, and calls by local public officials to do the right thing.
